Our Plans

Although the Association has enjoyed widespread and generous support from the community since its foundation in 2019, it was felt that to legitimately seek public funding, we needed to consult broadly with the community.

Survey

In late 2021, a survey questionnaire was developed and promoted heavily in the local newspapers and on the radio. It was then circulated in January 2022.  The questionnaire was delivered into (almost!) every house in the area, with spare questionnaires and drop boxes for the completed questionnaires left in local shops, post offices, churches, and the two community centres.

We are very grateful to all the people who participated in the survey.

The responses were carefully tabulated and from the 149 points provided by the local community, the results were distilled down into 18 clear projects,  which fell into five broad areas that give us our Five Goals.

As a local community development organization, we appreciate that our agenda must be set by the local community whom we serve and that we need to ensure our workand plans meet withthe community’s approval.

Details on how we are pursuing these goals are available under Projects.

What we are planning to do

We assign a consultant-lead to your project who will be responsible for driving the organizational change from orientation to implementation and more and more…

Village Renewal & Development is focused on the top priority listed the community in the 2021 survey of delivering safe paths and proper public lighting in all the villages.
Leisure Amenities includes mainly outdoor leisure pursuits that can be pursued in the area, to benefit the physical and mental health of everyone in the community.
Social & Sporting Activities are focused on those community members whose needs are unmet, ranging from children who could benefit from a playground to isolated eldering people who could benefit from regular contact and social outings.
Traffic, Safer Roads, and Parking addresses the problems with congestion around events, enabling collaboration between landowners and Mayo County Council around road widening and other safety issues including better signage and traffic calming.
