Traffic, Safer Roads, and Parking

There have been some improvements to the road systems around Parke and Crimlin recently, with some surface repair and the installation of new signage and radar equipped speed signals, however, there is room for improvement.

We recognize that both villages need dedicated paths and proper lighting.

Some additional improvements, including the removal of dangerous bends, has been progress thanks to support from Mayo County Council and thanks to the generosity of local landowners’ and their willingness to donate land.

This is clearly a work in progress and may be informed shortly by the as-yet-unpublished route for the planned Greenway extension from the National Museum of Country Life in Turlough through the area and out towards Straide and the Foxford Way.  The proposed Greenway extension may even cross the Manulla river at some point in its journey northeast, and/or the proposed route may make use of existing quiet country roads and lanes in Muckanagh.
